C.O.S.H.H. (Hazardous Substances)
This qualification is designed to complement the foundation course in basic Health and Safety at work.
Course Aim:
Successful completion will prepare students to look carefully at their own work activities and contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in co-operation with their managers and supervisors.
Who Should Attend?
It is aimed at those who use substances hazardous to health at work and introduces students to the hazards associated with those substances, the risks, the controls available and what to expect from a C.O.S.H.H. assessment.

- Health affects of hazardous substances and their causes
- COSHH assessment and control options
- Responsibilities under the regulations
Course Objectives:

- Explain how hazardous substances can cause ill-health
- How to identify hazardous substances
- State the principles for controlling hazardous substances and apply these in a practical context
- Understand the value of a COSHH assessment
- Understand the main provisions of the regulations
